Attract Mode Retropie Menu - Reboot to other binary
-
Hi guys,
so in Emulationsstation under RetroPie "System". I can reboot to Attract Mode (and with that set Attract to boot after power loss). So it uses the binary "attract" (as it should) but I want to use a fork of attract, so a binary with another name. Which file do I need to edit for it to work?
Thank you -
This doesn't seem like something that's included in RetroPie, but some custom/3rd party script - I don't know of any 'boot/switch to Attract' menu entry included with the RetroPie system. How did you install RetroPie ?
If you point out the name of the script you used to add the menu entry, we may be able to help. Note that
attract
, as installed by RetroPie in/usr/bin
, is just a shell wrapper around the realattract
binary that's installed under/opt/retropie
. -
@mitu Thank you for the answer. If you install Attract via retropie menu like experimental packages or so -> attract. Then it adds like this entry in emulationstation where you can switch to attract. But I want to edit it so I can switch to a binary

The default RetroPie
attractmode
package doesn't do that - as I mentioned in my previous reply - so we don't know what script is run from that menu entry. You can edit what's started by default - on boot - from RetroPie-Setup, by manually editing the
autostart.sh
script - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi. -
@mitu Ill give that a go. Thank you
