      @JimmyFromTheBay auto save states as they are appearing in your log are the retroarch feature found in menu "Settings > Saving", not whatever lr-mame option you're looking at, as far as i'm aware (weird that it even has this option given that this is built into retroarch).

        Man, Retropie is confusing :D

        Raspberry Pi 3b and 8GB Raspberry Pi 4, both running Retropie 4.7.1 installed from scratch using Raspberry Pi Imager, with wired keyboard, wireless mouse and double arcade joystick attached.

          *retoroarch - and indeed retropie’s default retroarch configuration has that stuff disabled.

          lr-mame has long been a mess IMO hence it’s not a recommended arcade emulator. lr-fbneo is and apparently supports this game - i would use that.

            Doh, never even thought of that :D

            But in fact it behaves exactly the same, with all four "enhanced" ROMsets :(

              As far as I can tell there are no enhancements at all in 2.03 as running here.

              I tell a lie - there's ONE enhancement. You get a little preview of the music on the radio select screen. That's it.

                It seems VERY odd that it wouldn't have been incorporated into normal MAME by now

                Are those features even available if you run that version on real hardware ? By policy, anything that doesn't exist on real hardware will NEVER be incorporated into normal MAME.
                Is that "custom version of MAME" even open-source ?

                  Yes, there's other video on YouTube of it running on real hardware. It was originally developed EXCLUSIVELY for real hardware, the guy wouldn't send you the code unless you sent him a photo of you with your Out Run cabinet.

                  No idea. If I had a copy I wouldn't be here asking about it.

                    @JimmyFromTheBay The 2.00 version from that video is apparently from 2020, while the 2.0.3 version from mame/fbneo is older (2017?), so i suppose it's actually an update despite the numbers being counterintuitive, and that might be why it has additional features.

                      @barbudreadmon Wow, that's mental.

                        I stopped using this version cause it doesn't keep score on fbneo, probably due to they changed how highscores are kept in the mod.
