Using rpi4, version 4.8.2, built from buster 4.6
lr-pcsx-rearmed, all BIOS files I could find placed in the bios folder
      Xenogears (USA) bin/cue file
FMVs stutter and freeze, showing frames like this then freezing:
      Xenogears (USA) (Disc 1)-221229-225404.png
Also happens with other games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Alundra, Rayman, and Tomb Raider. Games with skippable cutscenes I can skip while they are playing but when it stutters/freezes I can't skip or continue the game.
I have searched around for this issue but couldn't find the exact problem. Anyone know why this happens and why only on certain games and how I can fix it? Thanks

I tested Xenogears and the intro FMV plays fine in me, the issue happens there too?.
        Please add verbose.log and retroarch.cfg file(use pastebin ).

My English isn't at a good level.

Yes it happens on every FMV in every game it applies. In Xenogears the intro is skippable so I can play it up to the first FMV
          verbose log
In Final Fantasy Tactics the intro is unskippable (or it freezes on the first frame) so It is unplayable for me

I just figured it out 😅
I use rewind and my rewind buffer size is too high
            Thanks anyway

@Meatjunk I've been having this same issue and have been trying to find good rewind buffer setting to work with all psx games. Would you mind sharing the settings you are using for rewind?

Because every game needs a different amount to play the fmv, there's no real sweet spot to set it at. At the time I had it at 250, which gave it a good amount of rewind but clearly was too much for the games I mentioned. Some of them could only take about 50 which is not enough rewind.
The only solution I recommend is to turn it off when an fmv plays then turn it back on when it's over
