XBox360 controller not working with RetroPie
-
OK, I have a Raspberry 4B, software updated to the most recent version. It currently is in the demo mode, cycling through games on the SD card I installed. I have an XBox360 Controller. I checked, and that model (#1304, as I remember it) is NOT Bluetooth-based. (So, yes, I KNOW that it won't NATIVELY talk to Bluetooth). I am using a Logitech mouse and keyboard successfully. (But, before you jump on my case, I ALSO know that Logitech Unifying Receiver is a specialized version of Bluetooth, NOT universal, except for their devices). With the understanding that my XBox controller DOESN'T "speak" Bluetooth, I checked around and purchased a dongle which is SUPPOSED to allow my XBox controller to work (and I checked my model # was listed for the dongle). The model is Rotacess Wireless Adapter with Original IC Chip for Xbox One/X/S Controller (see Amazon). But, no such luck. On the opening screen where it asks for a controller, it "sees" nothing. The dongle is in place, but it won't pair. I push the pairing button on the controller and it blinks green like it's supposed to. I push the pairing button on the dongle and NOTHING. When it was plugged into my Windows laptop it's pairing button blinked blue. There's no o sign of any "knowledge" of it being plugged into the Raspberry. I'm beginning to think that this dongle is not recognized by a Linux-based system. (I don't see anything saying it will or will not work with Linux. They talk about plug&play for Windows, with no need of any drivers, so no CD provided). Has anybody tried using something like this to allow a NON-Bluetooth-based XBox 360 controller to work with RetroPie Bluetooth? If so, any step-by-step instructions would be appreciated. I REALLY would like to avoid buying another controller just for the RetroPie. Again, before I get flamed, I understand it MIGHT just be that this dongle just doesn't have the ability to be used on a NON-Windows-based system. But maybe it CAN be?

Your story here is saying you are trying to use an x360 controller, but you bought a dongle for an XOne controller.
All x360 controllers are not bluetooth. You need a dongle for the X360, not an XboxOne/x/s.
