      I got a retropie 3b+ from someone I know and it is unable to save on 99 percent of the games. He said he made it using the official image and has no clue why it won't save. When I use the hotkey select+R I get the message "Core does not support save states." I am able to save on a few mame games though. I'm not very good at these things and am completely baffled. All other hotkeys work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

        Please try to add as much of info you can : https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

        Especially the verbose log from the core with the issue.

        To create the log, when the rectangle grey window appears, after you choose to start a game, press a button. From the run command menu that will open, choose to launch the game with verbose logging enable, try to create a save state and exit. Without restart the system, copy the runcommand.log file here.

          @windg I have no clue what any of that means. As I stated in the original post, I am not good with these. It was a gift and he said he can't fix it. All the info I have is that it's a raspberry pi 3 b+ , it's on version 4.8.5, official image. I just plug it into my tv and play. I'm not very computer savvy. Hope that helps.

              @windg it's happening to all of them (NES, Mega drive, SNES, master system etc.) except Final Burn Alpha. The only advice I got from my friend was to load the cores but even that baffles me on what to do. I really appreciate your help by the way.

                Try to update RetroPie, you can do this from here:

                RetroPie -> Retropie-Setup -> Update
