Raspberry Pi Zero 2W Build

Having sold my Pi4B a few years ago when the scalper prices were just too good to resist, I've been looking for a little Pi project. I'm now the owner of a Pi Zero 2W. I'd like to do some kind of multi boot on it, I'm not sure how yet, and also see what its limitations are for full speed emulation. If anyone has any tips or suggestions let me know. I'll post up results as I go.

@Lolonois Yeah ports are probably a good idea. I think there are some N64 ones around now that I'd like to experiment with as well.

Made some good progress. I wen for the standard Pi Zero 2W image in the end. I have the following systems running with just a few minor problems to solve.
- Arcade/FB Neo: Temporary set, I have yet to settle on a full current romset. What's there works well.
- Amiga/Amiberry: Oddly the the installed version is 3.3, this is pretty old now, is there a newer version avaialable? Current version is 7.0 iirc.
- Atari 2600: All running well.
- C64/Vice: Doesn't seem to accept controller input, something to figure out.
- Megadrive/Mega CD: All running well.
- PC Engine: All running well.
- Playstation: Works better than I expected, PCSX ReARMed has clearly had some updates since I used it last. CTR has been fixed. Having a bit of trouble getting Retroarch to set 16:9 as the aspect ratio for the couple of PS1 games that support it. (CTR widescreen mod and Worms World Party/ Armageddon).
- SNES: All running well but I have yet to test any of the 'Mode 7' games.
- ZX Spectrum: All running well.
I have an overclock of 1350Mhz (Overvoltage 6) which is running steady. I have seen that 1400Mhz (Overvoltage 8) is possible. I may experiemnt with that later down the line.
Also this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19734/enable-disable-wifi-with-rfkill is an absolute godsend. Please make this part of the standard build ongoing. Kudos to @cyperghost

Slight update. I reinstalled Amiberry from binary and it is now version 5.7.1. For some reason I cannot get the amiberry.conf to update from within Amiberry and I cannot get auto heigh to save at all, even if I modify the text of Amiberry.comf manually. I also cannot get remove interlace artifacts to save.
Can anyone advise?

I'm asking around on the Amiberry Github to see if that issue is solvable. The Vice issue may have been around a while: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20610/vice-c64-controller-config/14. Fixed the PS1 widescreen issue with some manually written .cfg files for the affected games.

Fixed C64, I realised I was using Vice rather than LR-Vice. Also got myself a proper romset for FBNeo. Time to experiment with some ports while I find a solution to my Amiberry problem.

Resolved the Amiga screen size issue. Auto Height is now called Auto Crop (though it remains Auto Height on the GUI in this version). Thanks to the help I got from @midwan on the Amiberry Github in solving this.

Got a bit of a problem with .HDF files on the EmulationStation side of things. The RetroPie guides say that HDF can be loaded, this is so but they do not show up in ES and do not appear in Amiga entry in the systems.cfg file.

My guess is the working solution is to make a dummy file for ES to pick up on then create a custom configuration of it that loads the .HDF file.

Seems that we didn't add it to
platforms.cfg
, will fix this - thank you for the heads up. -
@George-Spiggott I’m running into a similar issue with .HDF files as well. The RetroPie guides mention that they can be loaded, but they aren’t showing up in EmulationStation or the Amiga entry in the systems.cfg file. It seems like there might be a step missing or something that’s not syncing properly. Has anyone figured out how to get them to show up in EmulationStation? Would appreciate any guidance or tips!

They should appear now, if you update RetroPie-Setup and then re-install Amiberry/P-UAE.

Does LR-PUAE have a JIT ? Standard Amiberry no longer does, I'm in need of an Amiga emulator with a JIT to run some of the more demainding CPU games like Gloom Deluxe.
Also If anyone has a list of the posts or any suggestions for which are good, let me know.

Doesn't Amiberry Lite or the Amiberry version included in RetroPie have JIT ?

@mitu Amyberry doesn't any more, the button is there but it cannot be selected. I'm newly back to this, the last version I used was 4.x which did. Amiberry Lite does have a JIT but I couldn't find it on the download list. Is it part of RetroPie?
Is there a plan to update Amiberry at all? The source version is still v3.3. I seem to recall there was some sort of lock put on it becasue of compatability issues with 4.0.

No, it's not. Source version is the same as binary version - 5.7.1 for RPIs. If it's still at 3.3 you're not using the latest RetroPie-Setup.

@mitu It is possible my script is old but I only downloaded and installed from scratch the other week. If it's fixed to a newer version then there is no problem.

The switch from 3.3 to 5.x was done in 2022, after 4.8 was released. I suggest you update since some of the scriptmodules need updating in order to properly install and configure the binaries.

Not much luck with LR-PUAE. I've tried all the settings that I can think of but Gloom Deluxe runs slower than it does on Amiberry. The later 3D games may just be beyond the capabilities of the Zero2 at the moment.
