I probably should add the SCPH1001.BIN is in capitals and it is in the home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS file.
also I have put 3 games in the psx folder crash bandicoot, granturismo 2 simulation mode and mortal combat 4.
Only crash bandicoot shows up in emulation station.

I have read this but aside from adding bios file I don't realy understand the rest of it.
      Thanks gain

@doing-my-head-in It changed with an update to not accept just standard iso files and they needed the current files as well. From what you're describing it sounds like you're missing these like I was. You can either re-rip the games and keep the cue file, or download a tool which will generate one for you. I found one on Google pretty easily, can't remember what it's called right now though.

thanks for the advice markyh444 I found an iso creator and changed crash bandicoot to an iso file.
It shows up in playstation menu on emulation station but it is the same come up with launching crash iso and then straight back to the menu.
this is what it was doing before I added the SCPH1001.BIN to the bios so I'm thinking it has something to do with that.
I first added scph1001 to my psx rom then moved it to home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS is something wrong with that. is there something else I should be doing ?

I have just changed gran turismo to an iso and it now shows up in emulationsatation so that's part of it fixed but it still wont launch games.
              What am I doing wrong?

@doing-my-head-in It also needs the .cue file with it mate. There is a program that generates it from the iso, but I'm not sure what it was called. I just googled cue creator I think.

@doing-my-head-in The community here are really helpful if you're proper stuck. But I'd advise having a good scan through the wiki page as most of what you'll probably ask, is already documented there. Even some more advanced things are in there with good step-by-step guides.

so when I check what files are supported I can see these are .cue .cbn .img .iso .m3u .mdf .pbp .toc .z .znx.

when I check my crash bandicoot file its this Crash Bandicoot [NTSC-U] [SCUS-94900] ECM File
Crash Bandicoot [NTSC_U] [SCUS-94900] Image File
so if have this correct I need to change the ecm file but do I change it to a .iso or a cue?
the image file should be ok yeah ?

@doing-my-head-in Think I had to change it to an iso and then generate the cue from it, then it would load. If it displays 2 versions of the game in the list, you may need to edit the list of accepted file types to not include the iso and then it'll just show the cue.
