New to Rpi/RetroPie - Need help!
-
Hello everyone!
Very new to the RPi/RetroPie world. I setup my RetroPie (RPi 2 model B) just fine with the help of some lovely YouTube tutorials. I am using a PS3 gamepad to play games and that works great via USB connection.
My question is: can I play co-op games on the RetroPie using two PS3 controllers connecting via USB? If yes, please help me here! If not, are there any other solutions?
Thanks in advance!

@dearie7690 I don't see why not. Does the "Player 2" controller work as "Player 2" in turn-based games?

@obsidianspider to be honest I haven't tried anything yet. Just the one PS3 gamepad. I probably should have tried it before posting, but I was just waiting for a response one way or the other to see ahead of time. I'm setting up my buddies RPi3 to be a RetroPie tonight and was asking before we tried to play TMNT Turtles in Time! I will have a look tonight and post again in here. Thanks!!

I use wired Sabrent controllers now, but when I was using PS3 controllers, I had trouble running them wired. I could only make them work in Bluetooth mode, and they only used the USB connection to pair the first time. But using two controllers in Bluetooth mode with a Pi 3 was cake on 3.8. I imagine it's even easier on 4.x.
Edit: I see you have a Pi 2. Well, the fact that you are getting one controller to work fine over USB means you're doing better than I was. I still think if one controller was easy to set up, the other shouldn't cause trouble. Just don't try to mix different controllers.

So I was able to get my buddies RPi3 running RetroPie 4.0.2 this weekend, and after configuring one PS3 gamepad on the RPi, plugging in the second PS3 via USB worked flawlessly! All the issues I read about must have been regarding older distro versions of RetroPie. I was also able to get both gamepads working on the onboard Bluetooth of the RPi3! Thank you for the help @obsidianspider and @Lyle_JP!
