      How is everyone shutting down their Raspberry pi? I understand you can enter a console command but how about if you don't have a keyboard connected, just arcade controls? Can a hotkey be setup? or is there something to install within retropie/emulationstation?

        On your gamepad
        Press Start > Quit > Shutdown system
        Wait....

        More convinient way imho is this:
