Backporting ROM's with CHD's or at least the drivers! Is it possible for RetroPie?
-
Hey!
I would like to know if it could be possible to backport ROM's which include CHD's, for example: Firefox, M.A:C.H. 3, Red Earth, and Area 51 to run as MAME .171 romsets. I wish to run the ROM's and CHD's on RetroPie. I heard that it may be possible to at least port the drivers of those ROM's. At the very least, I would like to backport the ROM's which do not have CHD's such as: Beast Busters and Road Riot 4x4. I recognize that this may be an impossible accomplishment. I am not a troll. I feel that the RetroPie should accomplish shocking feats of retro emulation and shatter the expectations of haters! -

red earth works on FBA i think.
backporting drivers is not trivial, and sort of pointless. if you want to run later drivers, just run those later versions of mame. you can do that via retropie already.

Yeah good point, the FBA emulators also run recent MAME romsets, those are worth a try too.
You can also run the very latest
lr-mame
on RetroPie.However, even the latest MAME doesn't have the 2D games right. If you truly want to play these games, fix their emulation in mainline MAME then consider backporting them to earlier stable MAME libretro cores.
