-
@hatfield44 Could you send me the file please? Or if you don't mind, sharing how you recreated this? Thanks

Hi @Capeman,

My email is jc.desousa9@gmail.com it would be awesome if you could share anything for this artwork, if you can't how can i make collage pixel perfect artwork and upscale to high resolution with no quality loss?
Thanks

G'day @Capeman ,
I had been searching for a pixel themed design for my first bartop arcade when I came across your post. It looks amazing! You have done a great job.
I was going to ask you to share the print file, until I saw all of the comments in this thread. Because of that, I tried to create my own pixel themed design, with some heavy influence from yours - which you are right by the way. Doing your own from scratch is a much better feeling of accomplishment than just downloading or buying it from someone else! :)
It's not completely done yet as the right panel is just a flip of the left so the text and some of the pics are bit off. But here's my pixel based theme - would appreciate thoughts and feedback, etc.
Cheers,
Pat -
@PatrickTee looks great! I like the logos across the top! Lots of good sprites on there that I didn’t even think to use! Post side 2 when you finish up, I’d like to see it all done.
-
Thanks @Capeman ! Coming from you, that’s a massive compliment! I did have issues finding some characters at printing quality. Was there a specific place you found them, or did you just have to recreate some?
Also, I want to go with the Arcade Forge kit, however, once I take into account postage, it’s almost $500 AUD (which is a lot).
Do you know of any Australian kits, or actual finished files to get a CNC Router company in Australia to cut them?
-
@PatrickTee search the character name and “sprite sheet” on google images. You’ll usually get native resolution pixel characters (TINY).
To make them large, open them in photoshop, crop down to the sprite you want to use and go to image size. Set the image size to like 800% or higher and the rendering mode to “nearest neighbor” (this is the most important part) and your sprite will bump up to high resolution and the hard pixel look will be preserved making it suitable for print.
Sorry I’m not sure what’s available in Australia, I’m from the US. But if you read all the info on the arcade forge page you’ll see the files they use are from an open source project, and I think they actually link to the downloadable files for CNC routing.
-
@Capeman that is super helpful re pixel characters, thank you! I’ll use that process to fix up a few sprites that aren’t the best quality.
Last question, with your raspberry Pi, did you install games on to the SD card or did you make use of a USB stick?
-
@PatrickTee I’ve never had a reason to use a usb stick, but I’m really well backed up. If you’re considering using lots of cd based games like psx, then you might wanna consider it, but I heard usb transfers slower since it’s only 2.0. It’s worth weighing the pros and cons.
