      Hello all.

Is it true that Reicast emulator does not Work at all with the Ipac2 setup / keyboard inputs?
Everyone seems to talk about joypad-issues, but since I'm using a bartop arcade, I'd love for my joysticks and buttons to Work with Dreamcast.

This link https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Dreamcast only mentions joypads as well.

I tried the ./reicast-joyconfig setup but it's weird. When it asks if I want to config a certain button, I press Y and hits Enter, and then it quickly skips and states that the specific button is configured as Enter......

Anyone had any luck with this? I'd prefer a CFG file, I've got MAME, Neogeo and the household consoles all working fine through RetroArch CFG files...

And since everything is working now, I'd hate to remap the Ipac to Work as a gamepad now, instead of keyboard inputs...

Have you tried not pressing Enter afterwards? Sounds to me like pressing Y skips it to the key binding, of which you then press Enter and set it as that.

Yes one should think so, but I can type whatever I want, but not before I press Enter will the guide continue.
So if my input is mappet to E I will just stay with a terminal saying "ye" [flashing cursor]

I believe this is true for both Reicast and UAE4ARM. It also becomes problematic, but not impossible, in other emulators in which the system being emulated originally made use of analog controls. For example, you can map keyboard input to Muppen64Plus, but since there are no degrees of analog in a button press, Mario will not be able to sneak or walk in 'Super Mario 64'. To get around this, Mupen64Plus has a specialized control scheme for this scenario, but not all emulators are so considerate. For anyone interested, below is an excerpt from the keyboard setup section of Mupen64's wiki explaining this issue and their particular solution.

When using the keyboard, the analog stick is normally moved by its full range when you press an arrow key. Sometimes you may need to make smaller moves. In this case, you can move the analog stick more gently by holding down the Right Control key (for -50%) or Right Shift key (-25%), or both (-75%).

If this is the case, I understand.
I just thought it would be awesome to play Guilty Gear X or Ikaruga on my arcade, which I guess could be done without analog controls..
So basically, I have to consider buying some universal joypads with analog Sticks, if I want to play these consoles on my arcade...

I would play Ikaruga in a box, with a fox, on a train, or in my brain. I love that game! It's my favorite vertical shooter by miles.

@mediamogul Hehe, yeah I love it too.. Haven't tried it on the Pi though, cannot get past the controller date-thing, but I guess that's related to my controller issues.

I don't know if I would like a set of separate joypads to play on my bartop arcade, but maybe some day..

To be completely honest, it struggles a bit, even on an overclocked Pi3, but it's playable.

@mediamogul Have you tried lowering the resolution a bit?

It's been a while and I have since uninstalled Reicast, but if memory serves, I did have the res as low as possible. I might give it another day in court sometime soon.
