$20 Orange Pi support in Retropie? 2 x 10 faster then a Pi3!

I don't have this board, and no-one has submitted support - I have no plans to work on it. Will require similar support as that of the ODroid-c1 which was a fair amount of work to get sorted, but may be able to reuse some stuff. Hardkernel provided packaged driver blob for the mali gpu on the framebuffer which we use - the OSes that this board support may not do that. Also requires a custom SDL2 with a mali backend.
RetroPie on the ODroid-c1 also only really supports retroarch and sdl2 based emulators.

Yes, it was ported earlier this year and updated a few times. It's based on latest Armbian, no more backdoors.

It works really fine, but performance is very similar, not superior to RPI3. Well , except for a few games that run better. -
No-one has fed anything back - you sure it's a fork of retropie ? Can't see any link to the source either which isn't good.
I know the backdoor is fixed - but the fact it happened, and the attitude of allwinner with GPL was my point regarding driver support etc.

Actually it's a mix of Armbian buildroot (Jessie Desktop) + Retropie-Setup script + a load of little tweaks to make it work decently. Very experimental but it's been working really fine.
And yes, Allwinner / Xunlong behaviour is just embarassing. -

I have downloaded the image, and looks like someone has just hacked a few parts of retropie-setup code (still references our upstream repo too - but contains some local changes). Doesn't look like all changes are included here - eg changes for the various included software etc. Where are the ES changes kept - retropie-setup still references our code, so I suspect they built it manually from another source.
I suspect this is in breach of a bunch of licences and seems a hack - and daft that someone would do this rather than feeding relevant changes back to RetroPie.
Can't find any references to the GPL licence on the wiki either - the source should be made available for all components (if they require it, but most of the code is GPL or copyleft)
I guess I shouldn't be surprised really - fits in with the allwinner ethos.

Gee, man, we will certainly give more details in private and explain how the project evolved. Basically we haven't changed much in the script , so we haven't got a git repo yet, we can create one no problem. Some external emulators were compiled separately with just a few tweaks to be compatible with retropie configs. Please let us know the best way to proceed. In the meantime we have disabled downloads so we can fix this.

What's this "Gee, man" nonsense? If you are unsure of licences you should check before hand. You are surprised I care about our licence and the licence of the components we include?
You don't need to take the images down. Just make all the code available.

Don't get me wrong I love my pi3 for the $$ but waiting for the pi4 is taking a long time should be out in 2017 and we can do n64 and psp games ect and might even be able to do ps2 who knows. Just look for other options to run a full retropie setup on the current single boards out there for cheap and low power

If people are interested in playing higher end emulators for games, then the GPU matters just as much as the CPU. I don't see anywhere that the $20 Orange Pi One is really faster than the Raspberry Pi 3, let alone 2 to 10 times faster.
The ODroid-C2 is faster in some ways (but also lacks on-board Bluetooth) and is considerably more expensive (basically twice as expensive).

Is anyone running any better standalone boards then a pi3? I know I could build a tiny pc but a portable power board that can run Jaguar or dream cast would be ideal

Better is subjective. You'll find boards with better specs on paper, but in most cases, the software options are limited and often not optimized, which can even negate the speed benefits to begin with.

Part of me is hoping for a 2017 revision of the Raspberry Pi 3 (we've had releases the past two years in February) with a beefier GPU. They could do that without a total redesign and keep most compatibility with the existing Pi 3. Maybe a slight clock increase on the Pi 3 as well.

Not sure if it counts but I am running retropie on an Intel i5 nuc from eBay with 120 GB SSD for about 200€ including RAM and PSU and I am really happy with it. Oh also main point was the akasa passively cooled case also.

^^ are you running it on top of a linux? Unbuntu? What version
I have setup a upboard with Unbuntu and it had so many issues for me
Both 16.04 run fine but no controllers
14.04 run fine but no audio driverPretty sure it's an issue with the upboard

In my case it Lubuntu 16.04 x64. I have 4 Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers that work fine with the Microsoft USB dongle.
