Hi, I have a arcade setup and when exiting advanced mame, I need a keyboard for two reasons. One to press escape and two to use the arrow keys to navigate the quit menu. is there anyway to make my joystick and buttons the arrow keys and escape button? Thanks.

@Kristopherson05 Yes, When I hold player one start and press player 2 start, it is ESCAPE. Left stick right is TAB and left stick left is ENTER. The arrow keys are already the default up, down, left and right. This is the default setting for the Ipac controller board as detailed here: https://www.ultimarc.com/ipac2.html

It's not really a ipac so the up, down, left and right buttons don't apply to the arrow keys. Player one's u,d,l,r buttons are hat up, hat down, hat left and hat right whereas player 2' u,d,l,r are axis 3,-3,0 and -0.

@Kristopherson05 That's not what you asked. You asked this:

is there anyway to make my joystick and buttons the arrow keys and escape button?

One solution is to use an Ipac2 keyboard decoder. You have not provided enough information (again) https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
