Help with Controller

Pi Model: (B, B+, 2 B etc..) Raspberry Pi 3
RetroPie Version Used: (3.6, 3.8.1, 4.01 etc..) 4.0
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc..) Pre made SD Image on RetroPie
USB Devices connected: SNES Controller
Controller used: SNES
Error messages received: Controller not Configured
Notes: The SNES controller works fine for Playstation, SNES, N64 games, but whenever I load a NES game they just say controller not configured.
