Retropie Install
-
So I went out and purchased a new SD Card, that is compatiable. I followed the Video guide made by "Tech Tipsta" the youtube guide, and nothing happens. It is a 32 GB SanDisk Mircro SD, I done everything his video showed to install Retropie and when I put the SD Card into the Raspberry Pi, It just shows my HDMI 1 - No Signal, I tried another HDMI and it did the same thing, I'm wondering if files are suppose to me put onto the SD Card when you write the Image. I extracted it using Winrar the .dz file and it is now called 'retropie-4.1-rpi2_rpi3.img' - It is a Raspberry Pi 3, I'm not sure whats going on.
The guide I followed was this:
- I know its a 3.6 Tutorial but it's basically the same thing installing.
This is what my SD Card looks like after a clean install using that guide.
-
This is the SD Card i'm using.

@herb_fargus I wrote it using Windows so using SD Format, than using the Win32 Disk Imager.
Pi Model: (B, B+, 2 B etc..) 3
RetroPie Version Used: (3.6, 3.8.1, 4.01 etc..) 4.1
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc..) I purchased it from Ebay with a Pre made SD Image, but it would not work NES games, So i purchased a new SD card. Now trying to use the default SD card and writing an Image
USB Devices connected: SNES USB Controller, Keyboard
Controller used: SNES USB
Error messages received: I'm not receiving any errors as it just will not start-up.
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): Same as above.
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide)
File: (File with issue - with FULL path) When I format the SD Card and write it, nothing appears inside the SD Card.
How to replicate the problem: Not sure what you are asking here sorry. -
@Shawee possible the image was corrupted on extraction or somethig. there should be at least some files on the sd card after writing. did you check the md5sum of your downloaded image?
-
@herb_fargus said in Retropie Install:
md5sum
Is that the MD5 Hash on the Win32DiskImager? sorry not smart with all these things. if I am suppose to checkmark that I did not as tutorials don't really do so.
-
I finally got it worked out, In the tutorials it does not say to toggle the MD5 Hash on Win32Disk.. I toggled it and it works all fine now, Maybe someone could make an Updated video. @herb_fargus

ok, so i tried to start a new topic but it kept asking for a "tag" and i could not find where to put the tag... so i'm posting it in here.
We just received our rasberry pie 3 and we have done all the things we need to do to get it setup and running and we have gotten nowhere with it. we followed the beginners guide to installation video on youtube. step by step... everything.
what could we be doing wrong? please help!
no emulators show up when we start it up. just the retropie settings thing. -
@missmeow13 So when you turn the Raspberry on it shows the "Retropie and says 13" games?
