      Guys, I am on latest RetroPie on an Intel i5 NUC using Lubuntu x64 16.04 and I am trying to get N64 running properly. The retroarch cores gave me lots of graphics issues so I ended up with Mupen64Plus.

      It is running ok so far but my issue is that the aspect ratio always seems screwed. As far as I know almost no N64 games do support widescreen and so they should run in 4:3 to maintain correct aspect ratio. But in my case they are all stretched to fill the whole screen in 16:9.

      I tried to tweak configs in /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg with no luck. I found the options:

      [Video-Glide64mk2]
      # Aspect ratio: -1=Game default, 0=Force 4:3, 1=Force 16:9, 2=Stretch, 3=Original
      aspect = 0
      # Adjust screen aspect for wide screen mode: -1=Game default, 0=disable. 1=enable
      adjust_aspect = 0

      And I tried them all but either they made no difference or the 16:9 got even worse by adding black borders top and bottom.

      Thanks for ideas! :)

        Well, I found the solution. And it had nothing to do with mupen :D Mupen uses a resolution of 640x480 and my TV-settings were configured to stretch 640x480 (4:3) to 16:9. Changing my settings to "4:3" fixed it. Also for usual 1920x1080 resolution it still keeps 16:9 aspect ratio.
