Advance Mame Tab no longer brings up menu?

Using Retropie I reconfigured the coin and start buttons to match my Wii U Pro controller which worked great. Somehow I must have changed the mapping for 'tab' because it no longer works to bring up the Mame config menu during games. I renamed the advmame-0.94.0.rc file in /opt/retropie/configs/mame-advmame but then Mame would not boot at all. I do not see a /cfg folder that would have any mame.ini or default.cfg file to edit or delete.
What file do I need to delete? Also, what is the line in the file that maps the 'tab' function to bring up the menu? Thank you!

Finally got it... in the file advmame-0.94.0.rc there was a line near the end that was input_map[ui_configure] I deleted it and it works again. I first tried to add auto to the end of the line but then mame would not boot.
