      Hey guys.. me again. :(

I'm having a bunch of new controller problems I just can't seem to wrap my head around. I thought I had everything all set and configured correctly. But when I tried to play a PSX game today, my controller wasn't working right. So I went into RetroArch to see what's up, and it was correctly using the assigned controller. I thought maybe my mappings were wrong, so I went in and remapped them (they pretty much stayed the same except the "AUTO" bit was taken out). I saved the remaps as a core remap, then restarted the system. Now whenever I try to play ANY emulator (not just PSX) none of my controllers are working correctly. I have the Joystick-Selector "program" but have it configured to UNSET. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't get my system work with any controller anymore. The last thing I tried was to go in and erased all the .cfg files associated with controllers, in the hopes that by remapping them in ES it would re-create them. Now whenever I press the START button (on any controller) it treats it as though I'm signalling the ESCAPE key to exit the game back to ES.

What can I do to fix this? Is there a solution out there?

I'm impatient and was tired of waiting for a reply so I tried to fix it myself. At first I completely uninstalled ALL core systems (ES, RetroArch, etc) and reinstalled them. Once that didn't fix the problem, I decided to rewrite my previous SD card backup image to the card and see what changed. Well, I couldn't figure it out lol. Everything was working fine on the previous card, so I re-wrote the new backup I made today before wiping out everything and began troubleshooting even more. I think I have it fixed. I don't know what I did, because I did so many different things. It might have been the complete removal of the retroarch.cfg file, or maybe the erasure of the es_input.cfg file. But my default Xbox controller is working fine now on the 2 major systems I wanted to have running. Since this is where I was at before, I'm satisfied that it's resolved. Further testing (on my next day off) will determine if it's completely fixed, and working with the joystick-selector utility to use other controllers as well.

Yea I was wracking my brain on it. I didn't DO anything to make it stop working. The only thing I can think of is maybe I somehow corrupted the settings when I was trying to get the Atari800 emulator working. Either that, or the Duke Nukem 3D port (which is awesome that it runs, but I can't get the mouse/keyboard combo to work right with it. It's either too sensitive or not enough). By replacing the new configs with working old ones, I think it just fixed itself, although erasing and recreate the various config files might have had something to do with it to.
