I'm running Retro Pi 4.1 for the Pi Zero. I set up everything flawlessly when earlier this month with a keyboard. However, I have brought the device home and am looking to setup a USB Snes Controller, but it will not bring me to the gamepad detection screen. The only thing I could find is that once a keyboard is set up it acts like it is always plugged in? I don't have any access to a USB keyboard for a while since mine is in another state. Would there be any way to set up a new controller without that keyboard?

@leo0935xblive if you can SSH in you can delete the es_input.cfg (then you'll need to regenerate the config in the setup script or reinstall es to generate the helper script hook) then on a reboot you'll get the option to configure your controller. Or you can get yourself a powered USB hub

@herb_fargus Would going in with SSH be the only way? [Besides buying another keyboard for temp use obviously]. If it is thanks for the help. I hoped there would have been another way, but it looks like every answer is pointing to people going in with SSH at this stage.

I actually already have a usb plugged into the PI if it makes any difference at all.

@leo0935xblive yep unfortunately the only way to do it at this point is to get a keyboard or SSH. I guess the one other way is if you have a Linux PC or a program on Windows that will read a ext4 filesystem you can read the card directly and modify the files that way.
