Getting Trackball to work On X-arcade Tankstick
-
I got a X-arcade tankstick for Christmas, for my retropie console I built. I'm mainly into only the 80's type of consoles. I got Atari 2600, 7800, Colecovision, Mame 4 all, NES and Super NES. All work well with any joystick config. The tankstick joysticks and buttons all work well. It is just the trackball retro pie is not picking up. I got Centipede, Missile Command. which are track ball games. I have plugged tankstick into my windows pc and it picked up the track ball right off as a mouse device. So I know the track ball does work. How do I get retropie to configure the trackball? Raspberry PI 3 with retropie 4.1

@Daverey1956 i'm not sure about mame4all, but lr-mame2003 supports trackballs. put your games in
/roms/mame-libretro/
but you'll also need the mame 0.78 romset rather than the 0.375b romset you would have had for mame4all. -
2019 NOTE: This problem has been solved by a newer update now.
I've seen many people posting that they can't get their mouse or X-Arcade trackball to work lately with lr-MAME2003, and have found that it will work with a clean install but will stop working if you 'Update all installed' packages under 'RETROPIE SETUP.' I'm not aware of any fix if that happens other than to reformat/reinstall from scratch. You can 'Update RetroPie-Setup script' and the Update found under 'RASPI-CONFIG' however. Perhaps this info will help the devs figure out why that update is killing mouse support.
