      Pi Zero 1.3, 2.4amp power supply, Amazon Basics USB cable, Retropie 4.1.x, Samsung EVO 16gb SD Card, image downloaded from website this week (couple day old install)

      This happens quite a bit to me: I unplug a USB controller and RetroPie exits to terminal. My 2.4ghz keyboard then no longer works to try typing "emulationstation" to get back into RetroPie. Thanks to the new feature that errors are no longer cleared I'm able to show you the error I see:

      emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-core/src/InputManager.cpp:67: void InputManager::addJoystickByDeviceIndex(int): Assertion `id >= 0 && id < SDL_NumJoystick()' failed.
      Aborted.

      This has happened literally dozens upon dozens of times before with all sorts of different brands and types of controllers - on several different Pi Zero's (going back to RetroPie 3.8?). Sometime they're ok, many times they crash for no apparent reason.
