Any performance difference for playing console un-zipped roms?
-
This is just a quick and easy question.
Is there any performance difference for playing console roms un-zipped?
(Console only. I know how bad of an idea this would be for MAME) -
try it and see

i guess it might take 0.1 seconds to load the whole thing into ram rather than 0.2 seconds :)

@rbaker
As in playing the roms for consoles outside of the zip file as opposed to inside the zip.MAME roms have remain zipped due to the game actually being multiple files workign in tandem. While roms for home consoles are single files held in a zip compression, and can be played either zipped or unzipped.

Yea, I assumed the whole program was running from ram instead of constantly referencing the compressed file... but wasn't sure, so I thought I'd ask here if there was a performance difference.
Though I've had seen some threads on reddit talking about how certain games only seem to run when not zipped.
