Doom and other ports, Controller not working, and XBOX 360 controller problem.

@wilburburns it is an emulator. Either lr-prboom or zdoom. It tells you on the runcommand screen right before doom loads.

lr-prboom or zdoom
I believe those are actually both source ports. If he were running Doom through DOSBox or Basilisk II, then it would be emulation.

@edmaul69 In that case, I will check tonight. I was under the impression these were direct ports of the original games, but I guess I should have dug deeper.
Thanks, working with a RPi and and RetroPie is new and even renewed my hobby interest in tinkering with other OS's and devices.. The last few years have basically been Windows only.. :)

@mediamogul you are right. they are so heavily modified that i think it goes far beyond just a port. So i guess we need to know which port he is using.

@wilburburns
I would recommend using the Xpad driver instead of the Xboxdrv driver. I don't think the Xboxdrv driver has been updated in a while and doesn't support the current Kernel that RetroPie/Raspbian uses right now. If you want to use the Xboxdrv, then you might need to downgrade your kernel. -
Yeah, until xboxdrv is updated, it should really only be used in conjunction with non-Xbox controllers for key-mapping purposes.

I just checked, and the emulator is zdoom.

Looks like I've already switched to xpad instead of xboxdrv. But I'm still having the problem.

@wilburburns so for zdoom you need to start with a keyboard or a mouse. inside of zdoom you need to go into option and the controller settings to turn on controllers, but in that same menu before you turn on the controller you need to disable the third and fourth analogs for your controller. Otherwise the controller goes crazy scrolling through the menus. Then there is another controls menu that you set up the buttons in. But you need to still use a keyboard and mouse for that. Once you are set up, moving through the menus with a controller are left and right instead of up and down if i recall.

Thanks, I'll try this tonight. Is it safe to assume the other Ported games such as Duke Nukem 3D should have a similar process to configure.
