Sorry for the necro, but I've tried unsuccessfully to mirror what I see in my PC to the Pi, using:

UV4L: Followed this (https://www.linux-projects.org/uv4l/tutorials/screen-mirroring/), and got to the point where I use the WebRTC, but I don't know what to do next.

PICAST: https://github.com/lanceseidman/PiCAST, but cannot install due to this issue: https://github.com/lanceseidman/PiCAST/issues/52

Using Moonlight and Shield/NVidia casting, as shown here, I ran into this: "moonlight map controller.map" -> "You need to specify one input device using -input"

      And... I got tired, honestly.

Is there any simple way to mirror my PC screen into the Pi?

      Thanks!

@lasagnadevil What do you mean by "mirror my PC screen into the Pi"? Just cut out the middle man. Why even involve the Pi?
If you want to mirror your PC screen to your TV get an HDMI cable (simple and cheap) or a Steamlink (easy and cheap when in the sales).

I want to output my signal to a very old TV that doesn't have HDMI but RCA. :)

@lasagnadevil Use one of these https://wiki.ezvid.com/best-hdmi-to-rca-composite-converters

Honestly, I'd rather have a software solution. I can't easily access one of those where I live. Shipping would be too expensive.

Plus, I'd like to make this work! :D

@lasagnadevil Well, good luck. I think you're choosing the wrong tool for the job and will encounter many issues. Even if you get it working you are going to have atrocious lag.

I actually managed to get ZERO lag using android to cast. Now I'll see how to do it from the PC. Also, there are A TON videos of this on the web.

                      I used this: https://github.com/vincelwt/RaspberryCast

Then again, it does NOT allow for screen mirroring. Merely for a kind-of-cast from Youtube and some other sources.

I found this source but couldn't make it work.

Maybe someone can try it out?

What exactly did not work at what point of the tutorial?

I run the script from Retropie, nothing happens. :(

@lasagnadevil So, you downloaded it, made it executable, and executed it like it's shown in the video? Were there any error messages?

edit: If possible, post the commands you entered and any messages that came up here in a codeblock (see this guide how to make a codeblock).

                              @lasagnadevil Use this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2881
The 3.5mm jack on the Pi also outputs video, so with the correct cable (not all work) you can use the Pi on an older TV

@madmodder123: that's what I'm using. I intend to mirror my modern PC's content into it.

@clyde: when I run the sh via Retropie, after installing everything, it just exits; no error message to be seen.

Alas, that's not enough information to work with. Please list your actions step-by-step and what happened at each step.

You could just use a wireless video sender, if you are not using HDMI anyway, these can be had for a tenner off eBay..

Might save you some headaches trying to solve something that looks like it's not possible, and even if it was I expect it would be a significant drain on the CPU of the Pi..
