      Hi friends, why do you not try to make a magazine made by the RetroPie community? The magazine could be sold in Google play kiosk and the earned money shall go as funding for the core RetroPie devs to help them to have more time to develop the platform, the magazine could be about retro gamming, Raspberry Pi projects, uses of the ControlBlock, HowTos, Kodi, Emulation Station themes showcasing each month a diferent theme worthy of atention like pixel minilumi or simplebigart, Raspberry Pi cases, Raspberry Pi gamming and multimedia accessories (like gamepads, mouses, keyboards and kodi remotes like the one made by the guys of OSMC) and even about tricks and tips for RetroPie or certain emulator

      What do you think?

      Sadly, I am not skilled enought for helping with anything in the magazine if it is done but maybe you could open an extra category in the forim where put a topic for each section each month and let the users vote for their favorite theme giving seven options, the winer is ported abd the second and third places recicled for next month's survey

        @sergioad: It's an interesting idea. I don't know who you'd get to do it though. Maybe there are some print designers who are also avid retrogamers on this forum that want to contribute but don't know how.

        I'd like to see a store that sells RetroPie stuff, like shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc.

        My ES themes: MetaPixel | Spare | Io | Indent

          @mattrixk I'd gladly buy a Retropie sticker.

            @mattrixk As I said my friend this could be distributed digitaly to avoid taking down more trees and to be distributed outside the UK easyly, with not importation taxes and in the local currencies

              This way we only need graphic designers and some redactors, maybe somebody who could take the screenshots but that is all

                @sergioad I think the amount of work would be too much, even for a digital magazine. It would be difficult to make each month and have something to talk about each issue.

                I'd love to see something like a monthly newsletter, with updates, new features, etc.

                  @lilbud maybe also could work but if there is a magazine of a single piece of hardware I do not see the problem of doing one about hardware, software and retro games

                  Also there is where the community enters, we can help the main team with some stuff like screenshots and a design

                    @mattrixk yes... A RetroPie store with stickers gamepads cases and a RetroPie kodi remote could be awesome

                      @sergioad Once again, its takes a lot of time to make a magazine, you need 30-50 pages of content, every month. Not many people on the forum have that kind of time. Due to the fact that many of us have jobs, go to school, etc.

                        @sergioad Yup. When I said "print designers" I was only referring to people who know how to design and layout magazines in general, rather than making a full print magazine. That would cost way too much and be a whole heap of effort. No, I simply couldn't think of the term "graphic designer", and "print designer" was all my brain could manage.

                        @lilbud: I even like the idea of just a simple "This Month On RetroPie" article on the website about new and upcoming features, maybe a featured Theme or somethine like @sergioad mentioned. It wouldn't make any money for the project, but it's a nice little way to keep everyone up to date on the latest developments. Something more than a dry changelog anyway.

                          @mattrixk Retropie has a lot going on, but not enough to fill a monthly magazine. Plus the time and effort to make one is more than most of us can handle.

                          And besides, if we sell a magazine, about a project that allows you to play copyrighted content for free, we will have a lot more attention then we want.

                            @mattrixk that is true. Now that I saw the Raspi magazine has eight sections and each one is like a blog post, four redactors with two themes each is more likely but if that is not possible I would go with the "The month in RetroPie" posts 😀

                              @lilbud that is true, but it is a grey area if you own a copy and flash it to a rom file, also RetroPie has the freeware ports

                              No need to mention that what @mattrixk said a monthly blog post and only about features or projects to come

                                @sergioad Well...do you think Nintendo or Sega will care that it's a gray area?

                                  @lilbud true

                                  But what about the blog post? No need to mention that what @mattrixk said a monthly blog post and only about features or projects to come and all that by free and in the RetroPie blog, also there could be featured some relevant work made by the community like themes or things like that, the community also deserves a spotlight dimer than the one the devs deserves but a spotlight non the least

                                  Apologies for my horrible English

                                          @herb_fargus it is but in my opinion could be great, talk about that with the other devs and if you like the idea well... Maybe could be done, I think if it goes forward a team of high rank users of the forum could write each post

                                            Well, I leave this theme, talk about the posibilities and see what could be done, I want to see RetroPie's creative community being hilighted once in a while, even in I do not mind if that is in a new category in the forum where only admins can post and showcase how great this community is.
