Hey ruckage great job as always on the theme specially on snes theme is looking great! I have a question, will you turn the icons that are in the options menu to fit more like the menu theme? Cause the option icons are a bit off compared to what the whole theme is about, it be cool if the icons were pixelated as well, just wondering other than not a big deal i couls look alot nicer tho
Not sure what you mean - post a screenshot of what you're talking about.

Hello Ruckage, I'm new here in the forum. I find your theme super, I hope that you still do your To Do list? Amiga, ScummVM, DosBox. Thank you
Hi. Yes, I'll still be working on the to do list for all 3 themes (Nes, Famicom, and SNES).
-
@ruckage sorry ill try to add a pic as soon as i can cause I cant at work, what i meant is the icons you see on options mene such as retro arch, retropie settings, es themes etc.. their not pixelated like the NES theme itself, i have the newest version also

Hey @ruckage
I noticed going through the console carousel that the release year for Arcade was missing. The first commercial arcade game was released in 1971 if you were missing that info.

Thanks, but that is deliberate. The year denotes when system/console was released but as arcade based emulators cover lots of systems and lots of release dates I felt it was better not to provide that info.

I see what you mean. It has been discussed before and I will make some icons for the config/retropie menu but it's not top priority at the moment. Also those aren't actually part of the theme - they have to be installed separately I believe.
@Rookervik made a really nice set for his pixel theme which you could use. -
@ruckage Yes, the "icons" you see on the Retropie screen are "boxart" images defined in the retropie gamelist.xml. They are not part of any one theme. To change them you must download a pack and overwrite the current carbon images.
The Pixel icons come in the Pixel theme in the
theme/retropie/icons
folder. You can copy them to/home/pi/RetroPie/retropiemenu/icons/
and overwrite the "carbon" icons that are already there. -
@rookervik
Thanks. I really do like those icons and due to the pixel art style they are a really good match for this theme as well. I will probably get some inspiration from them when I eventually make my own. -
I'm really sorry to waste your time with petty things as I know you're busy but @DigitalMonkey attacks are now quite personal. I've just noticed he has updated is signature to the following:
"Do a Ruckage"
[Meaning - Rip off someone elses work, ask for "donations" then kick up a fuss when someone else tries to do the same] -
@ruckage thanks. Didn't see that. It's goodbye for him then. I will also wipe his signature.

@buzz That guy needs a hobby.

@buzz
Thank you, I appreciate it.
The whole situation has left me a bit deflated. I know it's only one person but I've never had a reaction like that before and I've worked on quite a few free projects in the past which I've shared on various forums. Perhaps I've just been lucky until now. -
@ruckage You've done very amazing work. Keep your head up high and ignore the negativity. There has been so much positive reaction and support for not only your NES/SNES/Famicom/Super Famicom but also your neogeo work......don't let a few bad apples spoil all the hard work and all those that support you.
-
@ruckage Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery my friend.
I completely understand and agree with you wanting to keep your art elements exclusive to your projects. People wanting to use your theme as a base won’t end anytime soon because you’ve set the bar. Don’t let one...unhinged(not sure that word does it justice) poster derail you. ✌️
-
@ruckage Don't let that guy get to you. We love what you're doing. The entire point of this project is replicating the look and feel of a system that most of us weren't able to get! You're doing us a service where Nintendo failed its loyal customers.
-
your work is great. Continue and do not let go of it.
-
@ruckage Just one bad apple in the bunch. So many of us appreciate all the work you put into your themes. That individual clearly has problems extending past RetroPie and these forums and this is (was) his outlet to lash out. Your work is awesome and I always look forward to what comes next with your NES Mini theme :)

Thanks, I appreciate your replies. And you're right, the reactions here have been overwhelmingly positive and that's what I should focus on. I'm happy that I can make something that people enjoy and find useful and intend to continue working on this and other projects for the foreseeable future. I realise work on this has slowed a bit lately but I just sometimes need to work on something different as you get a bit burned out doing the same thing for too long. I will be back to this soon though once my Super Famicom build is finished.
-
@ruckage That is completely fine. I've noticed a lot of work going on in the NES/SNES themes, so I believe you should probably try to take a break and come up with concepts to make something different.
-
Well I'm not leaving it behind just yet, I have a target of at least getting all of the systems on the to do list finished. I'm working on the SNES theme and my super famicom build so that's given me a bit of a change. I do have some completely new theme concepts though which I'd like to start work on at some point.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
