Raspberry Pi Zero W?
-
It is allready here and I think it could be gorgeous to have a GearBest generic USB SNES gamepad with a pi zero W inside for retro gaming and retro online multiplayer
-
Mine arrived today :-) Not tried it yet.
-
@BuZz man... I want three of them, one for a server, one as a Chromecast device and other as a RetroPie SNES gamepad 😀
-
@herb_fargus said in Raspberry Pi Zero W?:
Raspberry Pi
is it better then the Raspberry Pi 3 or is it good cuz of it's size.
-
Am I assuming correct that besides the WiFi and Bluetooth the specs stayed the same as the previous Pi Zero 1.3 ?
The WiFi and Bluetooth are a very much needed addition and will make setup lot more easy and comfortable.

Has anyone actually got their hands on a Zero W & tried Retropie on it?
The only thing I found online was this - https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/5wz9yi/so_i_got_the_zero_w_today_but_retropie_doesnt/
:/
-
@DigitalMonkey It doesn't specify that they actually did try the pi1/zero image there, so not convinced. Should be getting mine soon, wish I'd gone for next day delivery now! But I'll try as soon as.
-
@Fruitybit The current builds (either specifically for the old Zero or for the 3) don't work on the new Zero W. Mine arrived yesterday and I've tried both builds.
-
@spagbol :(
-
Probably needs a firmware or kernel update. I will create some new images now for you.

Sent some love from othermod.com. Hope others are supporting you guys with donations too.

@spagbol Yup, should have looked here 5 minutes ago! Can also confirm no joy! Except for the rather natty bright shiny green bubble wrap envelope mine came in, lots of joy there;))
New image it is then...
-
@Fruitybit Let us know how the new image goes with the Zero W.
Still waiting for the postie to bring mine :)
-
@DigitalMonkey lol!(( what a time to run out of sd cards!! Damn forward planning brain fail.
-
I'm trying it now. It is quite slow (I'm using a 4Gb class 2 card) and it's hanging at:-
[FAILED] "Failed to start apply_noobs_os_config.service"
-
It didn't respond after 6-7 minutes so I killed it.....
-
This is using the 4.1.17 image that Buzz provided by the way. The zip is about half the size of the normal 4.1 zero image, is that to be expected?
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
