Forum notification e-mail bug?

Since yesterday I'm getting notification e-mails that say that someone replied to a thread that I'm watching.
Looking at my profile settings I have all e-mail notification stuff deactivated.

Is this a bug in the forum software?

@FlyingTomahawk I don't think so. Did you unsubscribe from the thread ? Check bottom of thread in question and choose "Watching / Not Watching". Also check you are not subscribed to a category.

Hmmm...weird I was subscribed to the Projects and Themes category. I don't recall having ever subscribed to it though.
I'll keep my eyes open and if it should happen again I'll let you guys know.

I get this notification popping up every 5-10 seconds on average, almost constantly:
I also get the message about 50% of the time I try to either comment or upvote.
When I try and start a new topic it won't let me add a tag. When I enter a tag it just disappears straight away. I have to go into the code and add a value to the input field and quickly submit the topic before the tag vanishes.
Quite frequently when I try to submit a comment, it just sits there with a grey button until I close the tab and use a different browser.
Lots of times when I'm scrolling, the infinite scroll doesn't work, so it gets to ~25 posts and then just stops. I have to refresh the page to get it working again.
I used to have lots of trouble with the username autocomplete not working. I'd try to add a users name using the "@username" but the autocomplete would never pop up. This one hasn't been as much of a problem lately though.

Fortunately I haven't had any email notifications, but yeah, there are some bugs.

Yeah, that is the only logical explanation.
I'll try to be more careful next time.
Probably happened while browsing with my phone.

That error message I do get from time to time but it never really bothered me. At least not yet.
Often happens on my Android phone, Chrome browser.

@FlyingTomahawk It's weird. I don't really get any of these problems in FireFox, nor do I get them much in Chrome on my home computer. It's only in Chrome on my work computer... maybe I should get off this site and do some actual work...

@FlyingTomahawk @mattrixk i have never gotten this message in chrome but in safari on my iphone i get it everytime i go back to the forum page since i dont ever close it. But it disappears so i dont have to close it.

Maybe something in the web proxy of your work?

@meleu That's possible. We have a pretty aggressive proxy. Quite frequently it won't even let me access certain cpanels, which makes it difficult to do client work.

Although it doesn't really explain why the site works fine in firefox.

Don't know but maybe it's a compatibility issue with the Web Socket protocol and the browser/proxy - forum uses websocket if it can https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebSocket

You may see the messages occasionally during normal use, if for example leaving the session for a while and coming back etc.

you can report this (and other functionality issues) to https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB (include a screenshot perhaps) - we are running nodebb 1.4.4 (92691782e654ed110836b4aa18b810d56270ca1b) with Mongodb 3.2.12

Make sure your browser is up to date etc.

username search was broken at some point, and later fixed - this might have affected the autocomplete too. I believe the auto complete for usernames only work for a few characters (if more than X characters typed, the popup will go again).

LoL, hehehe.... yeah we all do.
Spending more time here then I should. :)

Not getting any errors at my work and home PC. Both using Firefox.
