Retro game stuff talk

@space-cadet It was meant as a portable TV and was probably made in the late 80's/early 90's. It was made to be a TV you could put in your car and use to check news/weather in the middle of nowhere or watch football.
-
A long long time agoβ¦
Seriously though, black and white TVs were easier to make, and were therefore cheaper. It makes perfect sense to have a less complicated and cheaper portable TV.
Kids today don't remember that black and white TVs were a thing? Man, I really feel old. I had an Atari 2600 hooked up to a black and white TV.
Now get off my lawn!

No, I refuse to.
But in all honesty, the idea of making a TV that could be carried around is interesting.
If only there was some sort of a portable modern equivalent...
-
I had a 5 inch sony portable that was color. It even had a cable hook up. Had my nes hooked to it.

More Game Boy goodness arrived today. From Japan, another DMG-colored pocket, this one with a power light. With 6 games. These things are mint.
I don't know if the games have repro labels, but they look real, and are SUPER clean. They appear to be real boards too.
And from the instigator himself, @celly sent me a silver Pocket with a backlight and bivert kit. It'll be my first Game Boy mod. Super excited to try it.
-
@obsidianspider its the "get your feet wet" kit. Hahaha!
-
Really would love to hear @herb_fargus and @BuZz do an interview with the Retro Hour Podcast. They make me want to delve into C64 stuff.
Anyone else listen to it?
-
@hooperre we did an interview a while back for the pi podcast. And one more recently but it was more of an article. But meh I don't know much about anything
-
It took forever, but my first backlight and bivert mod is done on the silver pocket. I learned a lot, so the next one should go a lot smoother.
-
Nice work!
-
Was I bored? Yes
Was it worth it for a stupid joke? Yes -
@lilbud Nice work....
Are you selling medicine products ;) -
@obsidianspider What site are you using to locate all this goodness from Japan?
-
@mrjordaaany eBay mostly. Though I did score a red Pocket for $15 this week from a guy on Facebook marketplace.
-
A few pickups in the past few weeks:
I always liked these blue Pockets
$20 each for three 101s? Yes please.
The red Pocket was from a local seller, the rest was direct from Japan
These were all βas isβ and in various states of broken
These are mint and were received in trade. The green Color will be getting a CGB-101 mod
And yeah, Iβm up to three DMG-colored Pockets now. I may have a problem.
-
@obsidianspider yeah you do have a problem. The problem is one of them isnt headed to me. π Awesome pickups!!
-
@obsidianspider whoa! Is that a Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket hotwheels car?!
-
@edmaul69 haha, yeah, the nice ones are out there, but it takes some patience to find one for a good price.
Today I managed to score a FREE Sony KV-27FS120 WEGA television. This is going to be great for all of my old consoles, and all of the ones Iβve yet to find.

It has been a productive week leading up to this weekend. First, I finished my Gameboy Macro and it turned out nicer than I thought.
Then my order from Japan came with my minty pink Gameboy Pocket.
And then today, I received a package with some items that were part of a trade deal. My socks, were blown off by the CIB Golf game. Totally made my day.
-
Today my very first Sega Genesis showed up. A non-TMSS Model 1. Barbie was part of the lot. I promise. ;)
I also had the good fortune of two WonderSwans landing on my porch. The green one is apparently a limited edition Gundam unit. The polarizer is a little burnt, and no one seems to sell a pre-cut polarizer for a WonderSwan, so for now, I'll let it as it's mainly for display and is playable. All games and systems work. The Clear Black WonderSwan I'm seeing as a bonus as what I paid for it and the boxed Gunpey and Turntablist made it essentially free.
