Carbon Theme Updated with Video View
-
Thanks to @jdrassa he's enabled video support for the carbon theme. You can update it from the Theme Installer
-
Awesome, is this default in the new Retropie 4.20 or would I still need to update the theme?
-
Updated it I have been searching high and low about where to put the videos would I make a /roms/system/snaps ?

Here is a Windows PowerShell script to add video support to your gamelist.xml:

https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5823/looking-for-testers-for-es-video-preview-on-raspberry-piI think someone should write up a tutorial for the wiki/docs. I would write it but I don't quite understand exactly how to do it and I just use that PowerShell script I posted above :-/

@backstander I don't really use Windows (or videos tbh) and my time is limited so if someone comes up with a good simple to follow guide on the wiki for it I'd welcome it.

Thanks for the update. Has the snes display been properly updated? I ask as it's the only system video previews didn't work on. I've checked the videos are in the right place, that they've got the right names and that the gamelist points to them properly, but no joy.

Can you update the carbon nometa data theme to support videos? I don't need game info just a clean look with videos.

@dizmodawg eh. Maybe when I find time

That would be great if you could go that! My cabinet is done and want to use the carbon nometa theme with video previews.

@herb_fargus Sselph's scraper supports video scraping from screenscraper.fr. I've recently submitted a patch that transcodes videos to a more Raspberry Pi friendly format. This needs HandBrakeCLI and is not advisable to run on the Pi unless you like it melting through the floor. I got into the habit of running sselph's scraper on my own linux machine (mac should work too I guess) and then copying the resulting files to my Pi after it's done.
