I have a Pi Zero that I turned into a mini retro game console. I have been using it to play all my Atari, Nes and Master System backups. Runs great when I get the games to finally let me play. They boot up fine but I am stuck watching the title screen button mashing my controller until it finally lets me play. This will go on for about five or so minutes every time. Is there a fix to this or is there something I am doing wrong?

P.S. I am using a wired Xbox 360 controller (if that is even relevant) and I transfer all my games via a flashdrive.

No. I got it off of Adafruit (although I am sure I could use it as a phone charger). I checked it with my power meter and reads 5 volts at 2.1 amps. My SD card is a Sandisk 32gb SDHC.

Here is a video of what is going on. If I wait there a few more minutes it will recognize I am hitting start and allow me to play.

@kintaris3 did you install a driver or select a specific driver for your xbox controller?

Yes. As you saw it works when I hit the start/select combo to return to the main screen and it also works when I select a different emulator to play a different game. I tried using different controllers and even a keyboard. Same result.

Would reloading the OS help? I would really like to avoid that on account I have all my backups on there already. It just baffles me when it works after five minutes of idle on the title screens. That typically isn't an issue but when I want to flip through games it becomes rather annoying.

@kintaris3 im trying to figure out if you are using xpad or xboxdrv. I believe you want to be using xpad for xbox controllers.

That fixed my issue. I switch to xpad from xboxdrv and it worked perfectly! Thank you @edmaul69 !
