Hello all,

I've installed retropie 4.2 image onto my Pi3. It's all working but i need some help with /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg.

I placed all my roms into the roms/arcade folder.
Then in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg i listed which emulator i would like to use for specific roms/games.

sample of my emulators.cfg is
arcade_005 = "lr-mame2003"
arcade_10yard = "lr-mame2010"
arcade_1941 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1942 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943kai = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943mii = "lr-fbalpha"

So the problem im having is, when i select the rom 1941 for example, it doesn't use alpha to play. It pops up a menu asking me which emulator i would like to use. It doesn't automatically use alpha.

Am i missing a step somewhere? Any help would be great.

You should be able to choose emulator on a per rom basis with the runcommand menu.

@rmak where are you selecting the 1941 rom in this example? what's it's path and file name?

In my case using 1941 as an example.....Path is -- /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade and the file name is 1941.zip
My emulator.cfg is in /opt/retropie/configs/all and is of the form ..

arcade_005 = "lr-mame2003"
arcade_10yard = "lr-mame2010"
arcade_1941 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1942 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943kai = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1943mii = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1944 = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1945kiii = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_19xx = "lr-fbalpha"
arcade_1on1gov = "lr-mame2010"

@andrewcoughlan that looks good to me :/ i'd have to test it myself but i don't see anything obvious.

I'm sorted now I think. I had my emulator setup looking at a different rom folder. My understanding now is that you should use the arcade folder only for your roms and emulator.cfg file goes into /opt/retropie/configs/all .

Mind you, I think if you just add the details...i.e.

arcade_005 = "lr-mame2003"
arcade_10yard = "lr-mame2010"
arcade_1941 = "lr-fbalpha

to the emulator.cfg files in the other folders
e.g. /opt/retropie/configs/mastersystem

it might work too. I will test this out. Thanks for the support
