Scraper does not work after update
-
I did a complete update of my RetroPie setup yesterday, and it broke the scraper inside EmulationStation. Here's how this bug happens:
- Highlight a game
- Press Select ->Edit game metadata -> Scrape
This crashes ES and gives an error message saying "out_of_range" in the terminal. Also, my USB keyboard does not work after this crash. I have to do a hard reboot by unplugging the pi. I don't know if anyone experiences this as well.
Note: sselph's scraper, when accessed from the retropie_setup.sh script, works like a charm.

Not sure I know the answer...was this an update to 4.2 or whatever the latest version is? Can you try to install the update again?
I'm extremely novice at this, but one of the confusing things for me as a completely new Linux user is how hard it is for me to diagnose what is causing problems, even when it should be obvious. Sselph scraper was failing for me for a full day because I wasn't connected to the internet - I had taken the Pi to my work to show a co-worker, and when I brought it back, it didn't automatically connect to my home router (as it otherwise) does. There was no indicator or error message that ever told me it was offline!
Hope your problem gets sorted out...

@StormJH1 Hi! Yeah, it was the most recent update. I'm pretty sure I was connected to the internet, and even if I wasn't, the scraper shouldn't crash emulationstation like it is right now. :P I'm just glad sselph's works, but I still find it strange the scraping functions inside ES crash it completely.
