Hi all, I've got a strange issue with my Mortal Kombat roms on my arcade. When the second player presses down at any stage, the game stops and it jumps into the games volume adjust screen. This is the MK sound menu, not retroarch.

It happens for all the versions of Mortal Kombat that I have (1, 2, 3 and Ultimate), but all my other MAME games seem the play fine with 2 players.

I've got an iPac2 controller connected to my RP3. Player 1 controls are set as joystick and player 2 are set as keyboard. Is there maybe a keyboard shortcut that jumps to the MK sound menu?

      Details of my setup
Pi Model or other hardware: RP3
Power Supply used: original Pi one
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.2.1
      Built From: 4.1
      USB Devices connected: iPac2
      File: mk.zip, mk2.zip, mk3.zip, umk3.zip
      Emulator: MAME (lr-mame-2003)

@Evert The problem is that the default mapping in MK has VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN mapped to + and - respectively. Go into the the mame GUI menu and edit the controls for THIS GAME and change the volume keys to something else and you should be fine. Hook up an external keyboard if you want, and map them over to something you will never accidentally input with the IPAC, like a numeric keypad key or something.

            Thanks @caver01
How do I go into the MAME GUI menu? I've tried TAB, but that doesn't do anything. I'm assuming its a different menu then the retroarch menu (select + X)

            Cheers

@Evert yep. TAB should work. Are you sure you are launching lr-mame2003?

if so, I have seen the standard config get screwy and you have to delete a config file inside the roms folder. Look in the roms folder you are using and follow the path tomame2003/cfg/default.cfg
if you delete this file, it will reset the default keys for mame2003 if you have changed them (but won't affect any game specific keys). It can also
resurrect the ability to use TAB to access the MAME GUI next time you launch.

Alternatively, now that you know what is going on, you could also remap the keys you are using on your IPAC. I would suggest using the MAME defaults for the IPAC which are documented on ultimarc.com.
