@bidinou said in Recommended way to configure GPIO buttons-to-commands:

HI ! Really sorry for hijacking this thread with my own question but I never managed to get an answer :)

Why are you hijacking? I don't mind adding additional content to this, but if you already asked this question somewhere, why didn't you continue the conversation with whomever responded?

@maddog5683 Did you end up getting it working?

I was able to on a Rpi 3, following Adafruit's 3.5 section on the above referenced opengl/emulators guide.

Unfortunately, the kernel that the adafruit-pitft-helper installs is something like RetroPIE 4.1.14 v7, where the newest version, that the gamecon GPIO driver works with is 4.4.something. (Sorry don't have it running in front me.) I can actually see it uninstalling the gamecon module when I run the pitft-helper scripts, and then can't re-install gamecon from the RetroPIE setup util...

After many attempts at changing permissions of folders / files I simply reinstalled the emulator and all was fine. Not sure why the issue occurred but all fine now.

Hi there - it's pretty easy, just set it up as normal. After first boot the script will automatically expand the partition to fit the entire SD card.

@ShootHere if you can narrow it down that would be good, but I'm guessing it's something to do with your setup as you're the only one so far that's mentioned it as an issue.

It's also possible it's due to sd corruption/or USB corruption, possible it was interrupted or something. Could be a myriad of things. Might also be worth trying diff methods of mounting the USB etc. If you do a full binary install it should repopulate the config if you don't have a backup and you can see if you can reproduce it.

@Josh-I even if you have a windows computer there are plenty of free tools available in order for you to install the sd image and access your raspberry pi over the network. its all described on the aformentioned installation page.

for the most part you shouldnt have a problem with the systems you mentioned. mame requires a specific romset depending on the emulator but you can easily rebuild your sets with clrmamepro to be compatible. Its all explained clearly in the wiki

I have finally completed the how-to guide on compiling and installing the FFmpeg suite, which allows for recording from libretro-core RetroPie emulators.

I'm starting work on part 2, which details how to enable the recording features within RetroArch, and how to modify the various Emulation Station scripts to add the option launch a given emulator with the recording option enabled, as well as how create configuration files to change how ffmpeg is used.

For anyone who has the same issue:

I have resolved this issue for myself. I followed the manual install process ( at https://github.com/recalbox/mk_arcade_joystick_rpi ) but instead of step 2 (install linux headers), run:

    sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-kernel-headers

This will install a headers package, however because I had been messing around I had to remove the old header files first, if you get a message about "file already in another package linux-headers-4.xxx.xxx" then run

    sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-4.xx.xx

    then rerun

    sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-kernel-headers

once this has completed successfully, carry on with step 3a.
