Mortal Kombat 3 not loading. Retropie, Emulationstation, lr-mame2003
-
Hello-
Mortal Kombat 3 won't load on my retropie/emulationstation/raspberry pie 3 system. When I attempt to start the game, the "loading" screen comes up and then it just reverts back to the Arcade folder screen. Here's some info on my system:
Raspberry pi 3
Emulationstation
Retropie 4.2 (originally had this version installed, but then I used the madlittlepixel v3 image below. I'm not sure if that changed the retropie version. It's my lack of understanding of how the system works).
lr-mame2003
I do have adequate power to the system
image built from 16gb image v3 madlittlepixel
all arcade games run organized in "Arcade" folder
devices connected: two usb snes controllers and one usb keyboard
I checked the lr-mame2003 MAME 0.78 doc and it shows that mk3 is okay
please let me know if there is other information from log files that I should includeAs an aside, a couple other games that don't load are: carnival, moon patrol, and a number of others. Many games do load (~75% that I've tried).
Thanks very much for the help.

@criggity said in Mortal Kombat 3 not loading. Retropie, Emulationstation, lr-mame2003:

It usually happens like this if the ROM is not correct for the emulator in question. Make sure you get the correct ROM for your MAME version - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/ and the links from that page.
You might give it a try running the ROM with
lr-fbalpha
instead oflr-mame2003
.What does the log file shows after you're trying to run the ROM and it goes back to the folder (file is /var/shm/runcommand.log - see https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Runcommand) ?

@mitu Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try these now.

we don't support third party images - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

@criggity It really needs to be said that support for the madlittlepixel image MUST come from madlittlepixel, not from people here. This is clearly spelled out in the READ THIS FIRST post above. We cannot possibly know what is going on inside that image. You admitted yourself that you are not sure how using that image changed Retropie.
I am glad @mitu gave you a couple of pointers, but it just isn't fair to everyone donating their free time to support RetroPie to have to troubleshoot problems with someone else's image. We can support the RetroPie image, so for other issues, I would start with a clean RetroPie image downloaded from this site.

@caver01 Thanks for the explanation. I am sorry for the mistake. After re-reading the "read-this-first", I understand what you're saying. I'm still new to this, so I didn't exactly understand the details. Now, I understand this issue better, so I will limit my future questions to retropie specific issues.

@mitu Thanks for the help. Sorry for the bad move of asking for support on another image. Take care.
