controller not responding in a psx game ?

hello.
i have a rasberry 3b running with retropie 4.3 and instald alot of roms on it.
but when i use it with my original xbox on controller it all works fine in every game , but i have 1 PSX game castlevania symphonie of the night it boots the the main screen that says press start but the controller does not respond .
in other games it works but not in that one , is that a bug in the game i allready tryd de US and EU rom of it .
is there a way to make it work ? -
Try to enable or disable the analog mode through retroarch menu.
Some games only accept one or the other. -
There are a couple of PS1 games that I had that exact same trouble with. No matter how I toggled the controller settings they never would respond to any input. Those same disc images worked fine on other emulation platforms and I was never able to resolve the issue. The only title I can remember at the moment was Silhouette Mirage.

@point7 Start the game. Open the Retroarch menu (Select+Y on your xbox controller probably). Go to Options. Change Pad 1 Type to Standard. Go back to the quick menu and Resume.
