Can no longer hold button for 3 seconds to skip button assignments in Emulation Station.
-
Hit a weird bug while working on my Retropie setup. I no longer receive a prompt to hold a button for 3 seconds to skip button assignments when configuring a controller in Emulation Station. This is a weird thing I have never encountered before. I tried re installing Emulation Station which seemed to do nothing.

@tonberryhunter Just to be sure:
- Does the prompt really not appear? It only shows at the very beginning of the assignments. It vanishes after the first assignment (which I find most inconvenient, I overlooked it the first time I assigned buttons).
- Your controller doesn't happen to have autofire enabled or something similar?

I heard similar reports in the past but didn't really try to look into it much.
I don't recall the prompt coming up, though if you do hold a previously assigned button for long it should skip. Can you confirm that that isn't happening? On both ES and ES-dev?
Could be worth providing more details on the controllers being used, and perhaps using jstest via SSH to confirm that the button is indeed pressed for the duration of the period

@pjft I have this problem myself. I'm using an arcade kit, in EmulationStation, after having entered all available buttons, I choose one used button for left trigger, it is noted already taken, but it doesn't go to the next button, I can't get further...
If I run jstest /dev/input/js0, I see on/off when I push my buttons
I was able to configure the buttons before, but it doesn't work anymore.

@Fr3d You need to hold down the button for a couple of seconds. If you still have problems, open a new topic and provide the information asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
