Hey everyone. It's been quite awhile since I've been around, and/or had time to mess around with my RetroPie setup, or even, gasp, play the games! I'm going to get back into it this summer, and I just installed a fresh image of 4.4. One of the things I was always monitoring before was lightgun support for console systems, and now it seems there is support for lr-fceumm on most of the NES lightgun games like Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley and many others, that work right away on my Wiimote/Dolphinbar setup without needing any further tweaking/calibration. Sadly, though, it seems there has not been the same kind of progress made for the Sega Master System or Genesis/Megadrive, since nothing I tried worked right away like the NES games did. Does anyone know if any progress has been made on SMS/Genesis/Megadrive light gun support? The Master System was my first console and I've been dying to play Rescue Mission for awhile now, so any help would be appreciated!

@markwkidd might have some insight on this whenever he has time. RetroArch's light gun support has improved by leaps and bounds in the last year. There are still a lot of improvements that need to be made, but I believe it's mostly down to the individual core support now.

Someone started a 'megathread' on the libretro forums to track the progress of the new lightgun API across the various cores.

It may be that no one has started github issues yet for these particular cores regarding their lightgun support to see if it can be hooked up.

Once I'm back to where I'm staying I'll try to find that link.

@BGallagherLA I don't want to insist that you hop forums, but if you are willing to move this to the libretro forums there is a very appropriate thread to post in: https://forums.libretro.com/t/light-gun-core-findings/13965
