I have read a few instructions on how to setup MAME games in RetroPie but I am a bit confused.

This one states that I should just copy the 0.78 ROMs to the /roms/arcade folder and I am done:

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7247/guide-arcade-games-and-how-to-play-them-a-non-technical-mame-fba-tutorial

Another one talks about copying the ROMs to the /mame-libretto folder and then copying BIOS ROMs to the /BIOS/mame2003 folder.

Which instructions are the correct ones for the latest RetroPie 4.4?

@drabina Hello, firstly, remove links to roms as you are breaking the forum rules. The first guide linked describes how to use roms with the lr-mame2003 emulator. This is the default emulator for that folder. The guide talks about how to get other emulators to run roms from that folder so that you have all your games in one place. Otherwise you could have multiple mame folders for the different rom sets and it does not look elegant. The second link is not advice from here and is related to NEO-GEO and MAME. The preferred emulator for that system is Final Burn Alpha and not MAME even though some games run on MAME. My advice is stick to the docs from this site and you can't go wrong. Edit - the above appeared whilst I was typing:)

@drabina said in Question about setting up MAME in RetroPie:

If you happen to have ROMs for mame 0.78 aka mame 2003, that's correct. You may want to use a Scraper afterwards for artwork, screenshots, videos, release dates, descriptions etc. of your ROMs.

Thanks. Got it working with the first set of instructions.

I have also removed the links.
