Retropie questions!
I have Pi 3+ running Linux 4.14.98-V7+ with Emulationstation V2.8.3RP, and Retroarch 1.7.6. I'm setting this up for a friend of the wife. I got volunteered for this and I just want to get it done and out.
I just updated everything. I’m using black Wii U controllers. I've enable the analog stick on all the emulators through Retroarch. They work fine, except for the Playstation emulator. The start button won’t work. I’ve been messing around in the Retroarch settings, but I haven’t had any luck. Does anybody else have any suggestions?
Also, I have a yellow “Frames” in the lower left hand corner of all the emulators. Retroarch is set to not show frames. Any ideas where else this setting might be hidden?

@anthony77 The "Frame-Counter" can be deactivitated in the retroarch GUI somewhere (i am at work right now, cant have a look) in "settings" -> "onscreen display" or similar.
Cant say anything to your controller-issues, i used PS3-Pads and am using 8BitDO right now, never had these problems.

@anthony77 please fill out https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
I’ve been messing around in the Retroarch settings
this doesn't inspire confidence :) please list everything you've changed. eg, retroarch frame counter is disabled by default in retropie.

I believe it would be best if he makes a backup and restores the configs to default, and try again, starting with PSX first. It is possible that he changed something by mistake.
The framerate counter option in retroarch is in settings -> video -> display framerate -> off it you don't want the counter to be shown.
I don't think this topic is in the correct category....

@dankcushions
i never acitvated the Frame Counter, i did not even now where to find it.
In my case it activated automatically with the update to 4.4.10 or 4.4.11 as far as i remember.
I opened a thread here because i did not know where this counter came from and following the threads here and on reddit i was not the only one, that had this Counter "by Magic" :) -
@sirhenrythe5th i don't see any commits that would have enabled it, or later removed it. again, we need full details of OP's process to get the full picture.
editing via retroarch gui is not recommended. instead use https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor
indeed, i think the fps counter is a red-herring. i suspect that it means that the setup has reverted to retroarch's defaults, rather than retropie's, which means the fps counter is the least of the problems. again, full details are needed to diagnose.

@dankcushions there was a recent retroarch update that enabled the frame counter for any emulator that had core overrides. Pretty sure it was/is a bug. Happened to me as well a few months ago after updating retroarch.

@quicksilver that sounds very right, it happened with the update to retroarch 1.7.6.
