      Something weird - i cannot get the RetroAchievements to work for arcade roms, i installed lr-mame2003-plus-2010-2015 & lr-Mame-2016 etc not one of them gets the achievements to work on my Raspberry pi 3. I have the achievements working on other platforms though on the same pi. the situation is that at boot of arcade roms it displays ¨***** logged in at retroachievements¨ but after that it displays ¨cannot use achievements with this core¨ - for ALL mame versions i have installed. (the latest btw-binary) also - i have the arcade roms retroachievements working on another device - a pc with xubuntu and retropie on top of that. what is going on ?

        Have you read the documentation on RetroAchievements?

        So I don't understand how you have it working on a pc. Maybe different versions exist?

          FYI: instead of the AES-BIOS i am using the MVS-BIOS and achievments are still working.
          So maybe the Notes are outdated.

              Libretro RetroAchievements support involves implementing retro_get_memory_data and retro_get_memory_size in a core to expose main ram of the emulated system, those calls aren't implemented in any mame core. You are either using finalburn on your desktop, or simply hallucinating.

                well i tried running the arcade roms on my raspberry pi 3b with final burn neo and finalburn alpha 2012. they both did run the roms (mostly) however, the same happens also there.
                it says ¨signed in to retroachievements as ****" then it says¨achievements are not available with this core¨ (or something similar). so the same problem persists even with those othe emulators. i now then know that mame does not support achievements officially. maybe they still working on achievements in arcade emulators on raspberry ?

                  No one backported my code to FBAlpha2012, so FBNeo is the only arcade emulator with RetroAchievement support. I don't know what's your issue, i don't use that stuff, i just implemented the code.

                    something is discovered and do not know what causes this;
                    it seems like i had to have a specific rom (WITH its child or parent roms in the same folder) - this was written on the retroachievements sites under forum hashes (on the right side of the game under games supported), this accounted for all the roms. so i googled these and downloaded a few - now i can get a couple to load into my raspberry pi 3b WITH the achievements enabled, as you said, in FBNEO !
                    BUT- only a few, a couple of roms seem not to work, i fear they are hard to find also (the hashes must also match), these roms NOT working on my pi , DO seem to be having achievements enabled on my pc desktop with retropie on it. so now i get confused. but thanks for all the help !!

                      Also i have found out i needed to update all emulators from within Retropie-setup. i seems the achievements normally only work with the latest versions of the emulators.
