Would I be able to have saves and roms on USB drive
and have os and emulators on sad card -
@hackedmacbook111 all of this info is the documentation. Please go back, read the info for first setup and how to run ROMs etc from USB and see how you get on. Then come and ask for some help. Most of what you ask will have been covered in the docs.

Edit: I see now you are using an unsupported image, you should start over with the official image and you won't have these problems.

I contacted the develper of the premade sd card they said they installed retro Pie with raspbian stretch
They now sell retro pie preloaded with games with retro pie 4.6 and raspbian buster -
What would happen if I flashed backup to sd card and put it into raspberry pi
