I am running retropie 4.6 on raspberry pi 4 and unable to save N64 games. I read somewhere it could be linked the volume error message mixed elements not found which I started getting 2 days ago after updating. Note: I have not had any audio issues, I still hear everything just fine. Nothing I am finding is fixing the error message or the save issue. When trying to save N64 games (such as Zelda) it will save and hold the file as long as emulation station is still* running. I can exit the game and go back with no problems, BUT the second I reboot the pi or restart emulation station, it wipes my most recent save. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to your post.

Do you have enough free space on your sdcard/disc for the saves ? Emulators and EmulationStation run independently, so there's no correlation between the audio warnings/errors you get in EmulationStation with how emulators save games.

@MRL2051 You probably have run out of memory on your SD card. I would recommend getting one that has more capacity or running your games off a USB drive. :)

You can't beat the classics(unless you copy them).

@mitu Pi Model: Pi 4 Model B 2 GB Ram
Power Supply: USB-C 5V 3A Power Supply with On/Off Switch
            Running Retropie 4.6
            For N64 running mupen64plus
My SD card is 64GB and is 88% full

I am trying my best to get all info need, but am not the most tech savvy. The error message im getting when loading a rom is VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer element!

Something I read suggested the volume error could mess up the save state for N64, but maybe it is completely unrelated. I can save my N64 roms and go back to them as long as I keep the emulation station running. As soon as I restart my pi it deletes the most recent save.

            Thank you for any advice!

@Unknown I have checked that and it says I've used 88% of my 64GB SD card. Does that seem to full to save an N64 rom? Thanks for the suggestion!

@MRL2051 Well that actually is plenty of space. How about trying to reinstall emulationstation.

No, there's no relation between the 2 things - that error message is from EmulationStation and it appears at start-up, but you don't see it unless you launch a game.

How reliable is your SDcard ? This kind of behavior (files disappearing) is usually an indication of bad/failing sdcard.
