64gb Micro SD Card advice
-
I currently have a 32gb Micro SD card in my Pi 4 but I am swiftly running out of space on that.
If I buy a 64gb Card then I know I will need to format it as Ex-Fat. If I then copy my 32gb card to the new 64gb card, will the Pi recognise that and boot from it - or do I have to do something cleverer than that?
I could have two 32gb cards and switch them out, but I'd rather just maintain one card really.
Thanks,
Adam -
Why not use a USB stick with a folder : retropie-mount ?

This is interesting....
It would make my Pi bulkier which annoys me slightly, but I am guessing from you both stating this straight away that a 64gb MicroSD is a bit of a chore.

@AdamBeGood i missread your original post, sorry!
proper reply here:

you don't need to format it to ex-fat, or anything. you can transfer one image to another via https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie#making-a-backup
once you have the backup image file, you write it to your new SD just like you initially wrote the retropie image. to make use of the new space, expand the filesystem as per https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5229/solved-how-do-i-resize-the-filesystem/

@dankcushions Perfect! I'll invest in a bigger Micro SD Card and then give it a go. Thank you so much!
