How can I restrict user rights?

Translator:
I intend to loan my arcade machine to colleagues.
For this reason, I would like to prohibit all menu interventions for normal users.
So that there is a separate root login.
Is that possible?Original Text:
Translator:
The KIOSK or KIDs mode should do this job allready,
If someone still wants to tinker with your pi he has to enter the terminal.
This would be some kind of aggressive act imo and i doubt that these guys are really "friends" or "nice co-workers" in the end.Original Text:
I'd say to take a backup first if you're concerned something might happen.
For restrict access, you can probably change some settings:- switch EmulationStation to Kiosk mode, so ES settings will not accidentally be changed. Make sure you hide the RetroPie-Setup script in the RetroPie system so it's not accessible.
- remove the Runcommand launch menu from the settings.
- disable the SMB shares and the usbservice
RetroPie doesn't enable the
root
account, though thepi
user hassudo
access - you can probably remove if you wish. -
Runcommand I know. But Kiosk mode and "hide the RetroPie-Setup" i dont know.
Thx. Do you have a link for this?
User pi (sudo) is not a problem ^^
And yes. I make a dd (clone) from the SSD before ( I work with a SSD. Not with SDcard on the Raspberry)."Zumindest würde ich in Frage stellen ob es dann wirklich "Freunde" oder "Kollegen" sind."
Alle anderen Kollegen machen das sowieso nicht :DI might put the machine in a colleague's bar.
Nobody can mess around there. All other colleagues don't do that anyway: D -

Look into https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Child-friendly-EmulationStation/#ui-modes and see how the UI modes (Kid/Kiosk) work. Make sure you know how to switch modes, so you will not get locked into Kiosk/Kid mode.

Thank you.
It's not easy to find the right link if you don't speak English very well ^^

Sorry, I don't speak German.
-
And my english is terrible.
I mean the question in Google is difficult if you don't speak English well. I understand well. But you and sirhenry have already helped me a lot: D
A german section here would be cool. I'm a Swiss.
AND: RetroPie is fantastic. Good job !!

If the machine is in the bar, can I define an extra button for "exit game"?
If someone wants to leave the game, this should be possible without instructions. -

What bar ? You said you'll be borrowing to some friends ?

("I might put the machine in a colleague's bar.")
She is a old friend of me ^^ -
@treki Using RetroPie in a commercial enterprise is against the projects' license. Some of the emulators included in RetroPie have also non-commercial licenses.

No, you didn't say this, you edited your message 30 min later and added this. Don't do this, edits are not notified or emphasized - if you have anything substantial to add to your oridinal post, then post a new message.

I have not edited this phrase!
I have edited other things! Only add the english translation of it.And don't worry: I will not use retropie commercially. I will provide that for free (maybe in the bar of my friend).
Is it ok, when I write only in german? You can use the translator.....

I disagree. The original post at 8:43 :
Edited post with the mention about the bar added at 09:26:

Even if playing the arcade is still free to play, this still qualifies as commercial usage.

This is an English speaking forum. Please use English, even if you run it through a translation service. Do it once for your post, instead of the non-German speaking forum users doing it every time when reading or replying.

I still have to build the machine. Is my next project.
If I give them to use, it is still in the stars. Is a german section not a option?

@mitu said in How can I restrict user rights?:
That's unlikely.
Too bad.
Many misunderstandings arise only because of the translator. -
All this is offtopic. My issue is solved at the moment ^^

If I give the machine for 3-4 weeks is that commercial use? I think not.
In Switzerland we have not the same (sick) laws than Germany! -

I don't think there's any misunderstanding here - it doesn't matter how much time the machine is used in a commercial place, it still qualifies as commercial usage.
If you friend wants to have an arcade machine in the bar, then they should purchase one, along with the licensed games included.
