No config file found for SYSTEM

Hello
Pi Model Pi Zero W
Power Supply used: running on a battery
RetroPie Version Used : 4.6.6
Built From: retropie-buster-4.6-rpi1_zero.img from official download page
USB Devices connected: non
Controller used: arduino leonardo
Error messages received: No config found for systemI'm encountering several errors but all are the same.
I create folders :
virtualboy / videopac / gameandwatch under /Retropie/roms/I then put my roms inside them.
I went to Retropie setup via the ssh shell with command sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
I installed the emulators in optional packages (lr-beetle-vb / lr-gw / lr_o2em) from binaries.
Once done, i rebooted the device, but nothing was shown in Emulation Station.
I created manually the systems by editing the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg (emulation station was shutdown during edit)I then scrapped the system via command line, rebooted the device, and everything was showing up in emulation system.
When trying to launch a game from those 3 systems, i'm having error :
No config found for (lr-gw / lr-beetle-vb / lr-o2em)
If i go to check if configs exists in folders : /opt/retropie/configs/(gameandwatch / videopac / virtualboy) i have emulators.cfg and retroarch.cfg files with correct information inside.
What i'm i missing ? Please help me, i'm stuck, i'm not a noob at Retropie nor at linux but i can't understand what's wrong.
I tried reinstalling from source, from binaries those emulators but nothing has changed.
Thank a lot

you don't need to manually create folders - adding the emulators does this. you also don't need to manually edit es_systems.cfg - it is populated automatically, i expect the folders you have created have the wrong permissions and that has had a knock on effect.
try https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#reset-ownershippermissions-of-homepiretropie-roms

thank you for your input !
i didn't expect that behaviour when i created the folders for the roms. You said that es-systems.cfg was populated automatically but that was not the case.
i'm going to delete the rom folders i created, i'll reinstall the emulators from binaries, i hope it will solve the issue.
As for the folders permissions, i created them while connected as user pi so i guess they can't be bad but just in case, i'll redo the whole setup for those emulators from scratch.
i thought something was bad with permissions so i already runned the permission tool found under retropie setup script and it didn't solve my issue
i'll post the rersult ! -
okay, so i uninstalled the emulators via the package manager, i deleted the rom folders, i rebooted, reinstalled the emulators, then copied the roms via sftp, then i quit emulation station, i scrap via command line, reboot the device, the systems are there except videopac, but i still cannot launch a game, still same error "No config file found for lr-gw / lr-beetle-vb" and i lost Videopac...
Can't figure out what's wrong, any other idea or path to follow ?

@YaYaLanD The es_systems.cfg you edited overrides the system one. If you remove it the system one will be used. Why did you create it?
-
@YaYaLanD said in No config file found for SYSTEM:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
can i safely delete this file ? to reset systems to default values ?
I have added Pc engine cdrom, will i loose it ? (it's working) -
well, i deleted the custom es-systems.cfg file, reinstalled all the emulators and they now appear on the system list and games are launching well.
Thanks a lot for the help.I have lost the system PC Engine CDROM that i created outside PCENGINE as a standalone system, i need to figure out how to create it again without making a custom es_systems.cfg file !
This topic can be marked as solved !
