Advice on Overclocking a 4B
-
Hi all. I've been trying to overclock my Pi4, and while I haven't run into any problems per se, I'd be really grateful if someone could explain to me the various options around overclocking the GPU.
I'd originally just followed the instructions here:
https://magpi.raspberrypi.org/articles/how-to-overclock-raspberry-pi-4
...and set the following in my config.txt:
over_voltage=6 arm_freq=2147 gpu_freq=750
However, according to this page:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/overclocking.md
...you shouldn't use gpu_freq, as it tries to change core_freq, which can't be done on a Pi4. As such, according to this same page, you should try to set h264_freq, isp_freq, v3d_freq and hevc_freq seperately, ignoring core_freq.
So if I wanted to overclock my GPU to try to squeeze a bit more performance out of N64 / Dreamcast performance, I would presumably have to alter one or more of those options. I have some questions, apologies if they're a bit basic!
-
Would I need to include all of them, or would cranking up v3d_freq be enough?
-
What should my config.txt look like if I wanted to boost v3d_freq? Do I need to remove the existing reference to gpu_freq?
-
Is my GPU currently overlocked at all, or does the fact that gpu_freq is prevented from changing core_freq mean that its still set to the default value?
Thanks in advance for any help!
