I'm basically only interested in the old arcade games and have been trying games back and forth on RetroPi.

As I can see, many games are available on multiple platforms, what would you say is the best system for arcade games? MAME, Neo Geo, Capcom Roms...?

@lazaruz I personally like MAME but it can be a pain at times. LOTS of testing but I can give you incites if you want them to reduce that.

I have been button smashing on AB Cop, Aliens, Hard Drive, TMNT Arcade, 2 or 4 players and Tron mainly. I have all 5 Samurai Shodowns in the Neo Geo folder and been playing those too.

@lazaruz You'll have to use multiple arcade emulators if you're using a pi. They vary in speed and accuracy. I have a pi4 so I use fbneo for most games and it's actively supported. Whatever games fbneo does not emulate well or not at all, I go down the list:
        For pi4: Fbneo, mame2016, mame2010, mame2003plus
        For pi3b+: Fbneo, mame2003plus
If you're not familiar with anything I've said: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/

@lazaruz Not sure what you are asking about, this is really confusing, are you asking about arcade emulators or arcade systems ?
MAME & FBNeo are arcade emulators.
Neogeo is an arcade system by the brand SNK, cps1/cps2/cps3 are arcade systems by the brand capcom, and there are literally hundreds of other arcade systems. Those systems can be supported by MAME, FBNeo, or both.

@darksavior Thats's what I've been doing so I guess I've been doing it right :)

Have you seen a lot of performance improvement with the Pi4 compared to Pi3?
            I run on a Pi3b+ now but I have a Pi4 too that I could use.

@lazaruz A pi4 is faster to handle the more accurate emulators but it also makes some new games playable. Taito F3 games are now full speed. You can play sega system16/18 games on fbneo without slowdown so I don't need to deal with mame2003's buggy bootlegs. You can use mame2010 or 2016 for bug-free system32 games like golden axe 2 and spiderman. 3d games like tekken, etc are still unplayable. If you can run your favorite games in fbneo now then there's no point using a pi4.
